Petrie is a recruiting coup for the Coast, providing both toughness and athleticism in the front court. He has the ability to blow by bigger players with his speed and to overpower smaller players with his strength. He took time off from basketball as a youth to play rugby league in the Canberra Raiders organization, and returned to the SEABL Australian Basketball Association tournament where he was MVP two years running.
